Great article Ty!! There's soo many people around there that this article speaks too, whether it's the people that are frustrated with the welfare system while we work grueling jobs or the people that don't like you're article because they just got called out! Where we grew up we watched it every day and as we got older and watched our friends "work the system" it just disgusted me. These were people I grew up with, played sports with, even worked with and we grew up so differently! There's old friends of mine that i've known since grade school and their parents worked hard and never had any assistance, full of excuses of why they can't do this or that! Makes me sick. The thought of welfare as a help to people that have come on hard times is great in theory but in real life it's a broken system full of loop holes. People need to put a little more effort into a job than all the effort they put in to work the welfare system!

I have been working for 23 of my 31 years in various jobs because I am a man and wanted things for myself. While I believe that many people on progams like food assisstants are good people who just need some help because of how expensive everything has gotten, there should be limits on what can be bought. People should not be able to buy junk foods and you should have to have kids to get it. The other day I saw an 18 to 20 year old kid with a food stamp card I mean get a job for chist sake. What is wrong with kids these days is that their parents never told them that they have to work for stuff, instead they just bought whatever they wanted. Time to get to WORK if you want something otherwise you get what you get and don't complain.

Well said! I often read your stuff and think " this dude is endearing but he is a liberal, idealistic youth" ! This time I think you hit it on the head.
We are a 'working poor' two income household. Yes, we can pay our bills, but we shop the sales, try to cut various corners, don't have cable, don't spend on cigarettes and soda. It's very frustrating as a tax paying citizen to see so many big lazy slugs with a few (or hordes of) dirty unruly kids and full shopping carts ( when i do sneak a look, i see lots of healthy choices, too-- twinkies and soda) and then they whip out ( with no shame whatsoever) 'those cards'. What has happened to the 'pick yourself up by your bootstraps' Americans? A little bit of pride is good, but it seems to have vanished. Thanks for allowing me to vent!
