Great read. I’m a native Texan and reside, again, in Dallas, but from 97-99, while living in Rosslyn and in my early 20s, Clarendon Grill was my place, too. Thanks for letting me catch up!

In the mid- to late-90s I worked at a few DC-area restaurants (Vidalia was one) as a server. Those days really stick with you, don’t they?

Did you happen to know Calvin (Fuzzy) Seville, the owner of Whitey’s, and his brother Steve.
Just found an article on the closing of Whitey’s some five years ago. Cal, and I worked together back in 1970 and were friends. He drove up to Norwich in 1977 to help me move back to Falls Church.
Ah, those old bar/eating establishments are being phased out for the chains. Miss the camaraderie, togetherness and good cheer from those by-gone days. Thanks for a nice article.
