Your points about the seating and the agenda are valid, I agree. But as far as having the public wait three hours to respond to issues is so that the board can accomplish most of its' agenda done with. I find nothing wrong in having the public listen to the business at hand of the district. A lot of information is given during these discussion. Mostly, people don't listen to this information anyways only to come back to another meeting and say we never discussed it. The BOE meeting is not for the convenience of the public, it for the board to conduct their business. It is not a law that the public gets to speak at these meeting. It is an opportunity that the board affords the public. Now some people don't know the definition of insanity which is, you keep asking the same question over and over and over again hoping that the answer is going to change. It doesn't, but they keep asking the same question. Truly, the public members who sincerely what to know information, make a call to board members or to the Supt. It is the ones who want to incite the public in attendance with their innuendo and false accusations. You don't hear these people come back to the board and say, Oh I am sorry. I was wrong or gave the wrong information, or I was mistaken. No, they don't correct themselves at all. They let the public go on believing that what they say is true. We don't have to incite the people in attendance. There are members of the public all set to that on their own. The union president sends out emails asking their memberships to show up. Most of them don't know why they are asked to come, but, the president ask them to, so they oblige her. You had people at that meeting who were there listen to the poetry students. Others to listen to their experiences of a musical program and a foreign exchange student who wanted to thank us for his time at Norwich High School. Then there were the same people there to complain that we didn't do things the way they did it back when they were teachers. Then you had someone there who wasn't quite sure what he wanted to speak about but clearly only had one side of the story of which to talk about. So you see, beyond the fact that most of the time, there are enough agenda available, there are enough chairs available, but when individuals choose to incite, be mean spirited and rude, no amount of politeness would matter. They only want there time to belittle a school board with incorrect facts.

I think what disgusted me the most was the super and about 3 board members that met an hour ahead of time, hmm I wonder what they were talking about??!!Or the 6 digit monies that come up missing but miraculously was found just before moving on??!!
