I also took swimming lessons at Bowman Lake.I learned cpr and other life saving tactics there,and became a jr.lifesaver at the age of 12!I live far away in Texas now,but when I do come “home”,you can bet Bowman Lake is on the list of places to go!So sorry to hear that it was even considerd to closing.Truely a loss,if it’s closed.Maybe some advertising could help it servive a economic downfall.

As a child I took swimming lessons at Bowman Lake.( Many years ago) As I became an adult many of my summers were spent there with my family and friends enjoying the beautiful lake and the friendly and safe camp grounds. I loved it so much I even worked there for almost 8 years until I could no longer work and still after all these years it is my husband and my favorite place to get away from the everyday hassles of life and enjoy friends and our now grown children and grandchildren knowing they are safe and without a huge expense. Closing Bowman Lake would be a great loss for many families.

My husband and I moved here last June with his sweet mother and six kids ranging from 2-14. He had scouted out the community and pointed me toward Bowman Lake to fill the long summer days. My mother-in-law and I agreed we had hit the jackpot: a place that offered something for every age and a reasonably priced snackbar with good food, too. We went every (and I mean every) afternoon. We knew the lifeguards’ names. They knew our names. Some days we were literally the only family there. It didn’t matter that we had not yet connected in the community: we had Bowman.

I am saddened at the thought of this gem of the community closing. We have so few resources already in this county. I hope we can keep this one.

My family has camped at Bowman Lake ever since I can remember it has a lot of memorys for me. My husband and I took our children there as they grew up and now we camp there with our growen up klds as well as our grand child we love it there because it is so close to home with money being so tight its something we can still do as a family

My family camped at Bowman Lake since they opened I grew up there every summer my children grew up there in the summer we love that place hope to still camp there this summer as well can’t afford to go elsewhere
as i’ve been layed off for the past 18 months and this is close to home

For the last 3 years my son and wife plus 2 children
have come down to Bowman Lake from New Hampshire to
camp and to enjoy Bowman. Every year he puts his
reservation in and I’m sure this is going to be the
plan every 4th of July week hence forth. He used to
live here in Norwich so he familiar with Bowman.

The last few years our family has started a tradition in which my brother and I meet our dad at Bowman with the kids and we fish on the morning of Father’s Day. After fishing we have breakfast up at the snack shack by the beach. I couldn’t think of a better way to spend a morning than having 3 generations of our family getting together in this manner. I would hate to have that end. Bowman’s been a part of thousands of locals lives and to see it close would be a tragedy.

I too adore Bowman Lake and have spent many summers there with family and friends and hope to continue to do so for many years to come. I have done my part in writing local politicians and the governor on how I feel about the potential closure of our beautiful NYS Parks and Historic Sites. So far there has been much support!
