Reading this made me think of all the places around Norwich my friends and I thought we had discovered on our bikes. We spent hours making jumps and building forts on the Snake Trails. We went swimming and fishing under Red Mill bridge. When it rained, I knew I could get muddy at the stone quarry. Now, when I go to the library every computer is blocked by a youngster playing a video game. The childhood experience is a different one now. I played a lot of Nintendo and wore out a Top Gun VHS at their age, but from the look of the young gamers, the same trails that were so formative to my youth are now grown over.

I couldn't agree more! I've often commented about how you rarely see kids getting together to play football in the fall, or Baseball in the summer. I'm not talking about an organized league, just a bunch of kids getting together to play. I'm amazed watching a group of kids walking down a sidewalk and instead of talking to each other, they're talking to someone else on their cell phone. Kids are becoming impersonal due to all the technology they use on a daily basis. I actually had to applaud my daughter's boyfriend who took her cell away because she was texting when he was visiting!
