So I am wandering around in a (mostly) awake state early in the morning, look out the one bedroom window that's left open for cool air and realize that the screen is missing. My first thought is the crazy cat that bolts like a bullet train from the downstairs dining room window to that bedroom window on the second floor whenever he sees another cat walking around outside.
I walk over to the window; stick my head out wondering if kitty passed over to the other side. Nothing but the window screen is laying in the side yard. Okay, so I'm sweeping my head from side to side as I'm walking downstairs and towards the back door hoping to see Mr. Kitty. Nothing. I walk down the back porch stairs, across the patio and around the house checking the fence line and under all the scrubs. Nothing again. Just as I'm turning the last corner making a full circle I hear "meow". There he is. Covered in pine needles and dust, crouched down on all fours as if waiting for someone to come and rescue him. As I'm careful to pick him up in case he is hurt, he scissors himself up at the same time to meet me, almost as if he was glad I "finally" showed up to take him back indoors.I gently set him down on the kitchen floor and he immediately walks over to his food dish. Naturally I give him a fresh wet/dry food mix that always makes him happy. Ahh...all is well.
