Lot's of people are talking about the relationship between Rupert Murdoch, Fox News, News Corp and Dow Jones. They are especially concerned that Bill O'Reilly has the same beliefs and stance on race issues as Don Imus. What my friends are saying is when the association is made between myspace and Bill O'Reilly, activists, such as hip hop artist Nas who delivered a 600,000 signature against Bill O'Reilly to the door steps of Fox News, will in fact convince several hundreds of thousands of people to drop their myspace account.

I'm studying political science and I'm planing to write a paper about how a boycott of myspace might mirror the boycott of the Montgomery, Alabama transit system in 1955 after Rosa Parks was asked to move to the back of the bus. Myspace is a wonderful means to communicate and is valued by those who use it, as the Montgomery, Alabama bus lines was useful to those who used it in 1955. These things always come down to who can handle more tension -- those who boycott or the bus line? I'm also exploring what kind of pressure it will take to motivate people to take an action against myspace. Will Barack Obama losing the election incense people to the point of attacking (in abstract of course) News Corp. for it's offense against Barack Obama and its covering the story about a boycott against Oprah Winfrey thus in effect promoting the boycott of Oprah? Of course, I will never know until it happens if reducing myspace to the racial diversity of the Republican National Convention will affect News Corp. profits. Facebook and Youtube sure would like that boycott. A couple of my friends suggest this is actually what Rupert Murdoch wants. What do you think?

While researching Rupert Murdoch I thought of a second idea for a paper. The Wall Street Journal one of the most circulated newspapers in the world read by millions can with a story about any company change that companies stock performance. They have the right to write about a company or not and in what light. This does, for a fact, affect the stock of that company. Does The Wall Street Journal stories affect the performance of a stock over a long time? If so, could a person conclude that there might be a concrete relationship between Dow Jones and the Dow Jones Industrial Average? I was looking at a graph and it seems that ever since News Corp took control of Dow Jones in August 2007 the trend of the Dow Jones Industrial Average changed also. Is this a natural trend in the the Dow Jones Industrial Average or a trend that is caused by the editorial changes of the paper by the new owners?

Did The Wall Street Journal not give the full objective facts for business leaders to make the right decisions for their companies since News Corp took it over, therefore caused the decline of the Dow Jones Industrial Average? Is there a reason for the coincidence? How much influence does Rupert Murdoch have on American markets and has he influenced the decline of the American economy? Has the integrity of The Wall Street Journal been degraded?

Please explain Rupert Murdoch to me.

Being the victim of bullying and 'gangbanging' myself I can sympathize with the people referring to YouTube and its ilk as 'the Antichrist'. But let's put blame where blame is due- on the kids. Kids are by definition mean, uncaring, vicious, use your own adjective. While in school in the '80s I was shoved in lockers, pushed down flights of stairs, had my hand slashed with a box cutter, all while the principal turned a blind eye. Why? Because the perpetrators were jocks. I now suffer from PTSD, claustrophobia and acrophobia. Thanks a lot, Class of 1984, for ruining my life.

Let's get them back to church. We need to fix the moral fiber of the kids and adults! Parents can discipline kids they just need to be reasonable and consistent. Parents are so afraid to discipline because they may not be friends with their kids. You have to take authority. Kids need structure in their lives. I think giving all the freedoms they hvae now has not worked out too well. We are seeing it proven everyday. Thanks.

Sorry Krista, but this isn't an article, it's a blog, which means it's based on my opinions. So maybe parents aren't always responsible for the actions of their children, but I believe there is generally a direct relationship between the behavior of a child and the way they were raised. In some instances, I'm sure a child can have a perfect childhood and still grow up to have less than perfect morals, but I think in most cases the actions of a parent can make all the difference in the world.

My gripe is with one of the comments you made in your article, Jessica. At the very end, you said "Let's put the blame where it is deserved, on these children, who have no respect for human decency, and on the parents and families who created them". Well the first half of your sentence is definitely correct but to incorporate the parents & families--as a whole--and a cause for their kids actions, is really unfair. Do not make statements that you can not back up with 100% truth. It is not fair. Even if it is true in some cases, you can not make it an absolute for everyone and every situation.

I agree with all of you guys.. The kids should be held responsible.
The social network sites can be a good place for people of all ages to connect with one another, but some has used it for the wrong reasons.
I just started a social network and hopefully it will remain clean..lol

This is definitely a problem with the parents, as evidenced by the reaction of the mother of one of the cheerleaders. She said the girl who got the beating "had it coming to her" because she posted some "not so nice things" about the others on MySpace.

On a different note, why does Dr. Phil feel the need to get involved and bail one of the girls out of jail?
