Summertime blues
The summer is over, and I can’t help but feeling like I didn’t enjoy it enough.
Things I used to do daily from June to September – ride bike, camp, swim, and stay out later than usual – I don’t have time to do them anymore, it seems.
These days, it’s extra hours at work, weeknight commitments, and weekend obligations. Between the work, weddings and events, the majority of the summer is spoken for before it even begins. That makes it hard to enjoy it like we used to – care free.
Most of you are probably saying, “Well, welcome to life as an adult, Sonny.” If so, you’re right. It’s time to grow up.
But I’m not sure what’s worse; feeling bad for wasting a summer or accepting that you did because you’re getting old, and that makes it OK.

dude!! there is still a few weekends worth while…grab some friends and head out for a weekend…do the things that you love to do and get on with it! you are never too old….just lax in thinking…my summer was spent working three jobs and taking care of my 2 kids. so one weekend i called all of my old friends up from the high school times and said lets get together….we did and loved every moment of it….its not always what you get out of life, but what you put into it too…….

“Do not go gently into that dark night. Rage, rage against the dying of the light!”
(I probably got the quote wrong, but you get the gist, right?)
You only slow down with age if you honestly believe you’re supposed to. So rage, pal. You’re as young as you feel. It’s absolute fact. So if you’re not having fun the solution is simple. Decide to have fun. Make it your deliberate intention to enjoy every day on the planet. Even when you’re doing things you don’t necessarily want to be doing, find a way to have fun with them and get them out of the way so you can go and do something even more fun.
It’s all up to you. Age is nothing but a number, and a meaningless one at that.
I know, I’m disgustingly happy. But I like it that way. =)
