April’s been a tough month
My mom pointed out Tuesday that April, particularly this week in April, has historically seen its share of horrific events.
Monday’s massacre at Virginia Tech being the most recent.
In years past my family would have been in Myrtle Beach this week – where 75 percent of Norwich is currently – and heard the awful news. But being by the beach with a heavy heart is a place we’ve been before.
Three events standout more than others.
April 19, 1995 – Oklahoma City bombing, 168 killed, 800 injured.
April 14, 1997 – Norwich High School student Jesse Scott dies in car accident.
April 20, 1999 – Columbine High School Shooting, 12 students and one teacher killed.
There’s no reason all these events occurred in April.
There’s no reason why they happened at all.
They just did.
Regardless, April will always mark a tough month. It’ll remind me of sad times I saw as a teenager, and now again as an adult.
All of us, like Cho Seung-Hui, could impose our will on others if we ever felt the need. And rather than blame the school or security, I can’t help but be angry with the shooter more than anything. Whether he was disturbed, scared, or whatever – his real problem was that he was selfish.
Other infamous happenings in April:
April 14, 1865 – Abraham Lincoln assassinated.
April 18, 1906 – San Francisco earthquake and fire - killed 3,000 over 4 days.
April 15, 1912 – Titanic sinks, killing 1,500.
April 4, 1968 – Dr. Martin Luther King assassinated.

Hello:
This is very interesting. I have been commenting about this things for the past several years with my brother and some friends.
I thing there are some reasons for this things to take place during this period of time. It is just a matter of connecting the dots.
Now, I’m not a crazy loon or a Psychic. I just try to find some time of pathers on these events.
If you look close, you could come up with some ideas.
I hope to continue to read your post, and please read what I think on this subject.
Thanks,
MasterDGO

I agree April is one month since my childhood and straight up through that when things go sour, they sour in April. Family deaths, birthdays of friends who have died and numerous other disturbing parts of life have happened in April. This month I have seen my share of disappointment and other aspects of life that left me either saddened or with a bad taste in my mouth so I will second the fact that April is, as record shows us, a month where bad things seem to take toll.

I would note that the Columbine shootings took place on the anniversary of Adolf Hitler’s birthday, although the killers offered no conclusive link in the writings they left behind.
From Wikipedia:
“Due to the uncertainty and ambiguity in their planning, many theories still exist about the choice of date. One theory states that the original date chosen was April 19 because it was a date on which Robyn Anderson, one of the people who purchased the guns and a close friend of Klebold, would not be present. Due to delays in the making of the propane bombs, the date was moved to April 20. Some analysts noted that the date of the shooting coincided with Adolf Hitler’s birthday and was one day after the anniversary of the Oklahoma City Bombing and the immolation of the Branch Davidians in Waco, further strengthening the theory that the original intended date was set for April 19, as both shooters mentioned in videos that they had hoped to outdo both these events. It is also believed that the shootings were perhaps plotted for these days because of their proximity to the end of the year activities.”

My ex-girl friend was born in April. So I hear you loud and clear.
